The next time you cringe when looking at your holiday shopping receipts, keep this story in mind.
Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has an annual Christmas ritual. He funds twelve children selected by Child Protective services to go on a c. The children range from ages 8 to 16, and have all suffered from some form of parental abuse, whether it is physical or emotional. Each child gets a shopping cart and 80 seconds to fill it up with as many toys as they can. The children not only picked up items for themselves, but every child chose out toys for siblings and relatives too. Johnson’s total bill was $19,000, but he thinks the bigger the better. He’s pleased, saying- “That’s what the season is about. It’s something I look forward to. The kids are happy, they get what they want for Christmas, and that’s all that matters.”
