NYPD Officer’s Kindness

I’m sure that everyone has seen this story by now, since the story has been all over news stations and Facebook. But I thought I’d share, since this is what being a police officer is all about.

A tourist took this picture of a NYPD officer giving a homeless man a pair of shoes. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man, according to Jennifer Foster, the tourist.

The officer didn’t know that he was being watched or photographed, but said it was cold out and you could see the blisters on the man’s feet. The officer, Lawrence DePrimo, paid $75 for the boots and keeps the receipt in his pocket “to remind me that sometimes people have it worse.”
