‘Zombies’ countered Westboro Baptist Church protesters

Westboro Baptist Church has been in the media a lot recently. Well, they’ve done it again.

Last Friday, the church decided to hold one of its protests outside the Joint Base Lewis-McChord in DuPont, Washington. However, the protesters were met with a protest of their own. The event on Facebook was called “Zombie’ing Westboro Baptist Church AWAY from Fort Lewis!”

The group showed up dressed as zombies, and they outnumbered the church protesters 300 to 8.

Westboro Baptist Church has been protesting outside of military funerals in opposition to gay rights. Melissa Neace, who organized the Zombie’ing Away, “We wanted to turn something negative around, into something people could laugh at and poke fun at. It was the easiest way to divert attention from something so hateful.”
